Weekend: Los Angeles, Cirque Du Noel, and Journey

So it all began last Thursday night at Cirque Du Noel which was held next to Fresno High. My girl Lindsay and I had planned to meet up there to check out handmade crafts and catch up on life and whatnot.
I was leaning towards not attending because A. I was tired and just got out of work, B. It was raining, and C. I was driving to Los Angeles in the morning. But I’m glad I just said “fuck it” and went.
I chatted with some incredible creative folks like Ms. KimBurly of the Notown Roller Derby Girls. We have a numerous amount of mutual friends so it was nice to get the chance to talk to her.
I met a lovely body painter named Judy who did some complementary work on my hand. I told her I want to be more skilled at painting for collages and she gave me a lot of great advice. For example, I didn’t realize how important it is to have good painting brushes, she told me to avoid the brush sets that cost under $10 by all means.
Friday morning I kept debating about making the drive to Los Angeles, I wasn’t even packed and it was still raining. But I finally got on the road around noon, with no cd player I was stuck with radio but I made the best of it, I listened to NPR and classic rock stations until I hit LA. My girl Lainnie was gracious enough to let me stay at her place in North Hollywood so I could look for apartments and get enrolled at SMC.
It continued to rain on Saturday, which sucked, apartment hunting in the rain is not fun. But luckily on Sunday the sun came out, I love how dramatic the clouds look after a rainy day. I walked around in North Hollywood looking for rental vacancy signs and couldn’t help but take some photos.
When I first got into town I passed by this Jamaican restaurant and made a note to check it out before I left.
Man, this was so good, I had jerk chicken, rice and beans, fried plantains, cabbage, and corn bread.
This was a good trip, I found a nice 2BD 1BA for my girl Brie and I but I’m going back Thursday(hopefully) to check out 2 other spots. I’m now fully enrolled in school and will start Feburary, looking forward to next year!
Like I said earlier, being stuck with the radio wasn’t so bad, I got to hear my favorite Journey song a few times. And yes I sang my heart out every time it came on, Steve Perry has one of the sexiest voices I’ve ever heard.
Ciao!
